“Summer Programs can be tough on the kids. They want to be doing anything else but learning. Tim Collins’ performance and workshop was interactive, fun, and educational. The kids loved it, learned, and wanted more. For almost every prompt almost our entire group raised their hands—such engagement is rare. We are still applying the lessons learned through Tim and his multiple show characters.”

“THE SCRIPT provided the students with a different perspective, with a different way to understand sexual assault.  It also emphasized the role of the by-stander which needs to be a part of the conversation.

Our students responded very positively to the performance and want it again next year for incoming students!”

“I have been looking for a supplemental workshop for First Year college students pertaining to bystander intervention, and sexual assault for over a year. We found Tim’s website, and brought him to campus during our Orientation week. His show and concurrent workshop absolutely fit our needs! His characters are believable, and easily paint a picture of various scenes and experiences of assault and intervention. We were really thrilled about how our students responded to this session in orientation, and believe this could be a continuing fit for our institution.”

One-man show targets bullying

There was only one guy on the stage, but Skaneateles Middle School students were riveted recently by four totally different characters who took them on a suspenseful and uncomfortable journey about the realities of bullying and cyber bullying.
In two assemblies (one for sixth graders and one for 7th and 8th graders) solo performer Tim Collins wore various hats to show struggles students face as instigators, bystanders and victims of various types of bullying. His visit was sponsored by the Middle School PTC.

       .
TBH (To Be Honest) is a one-man show about cyberbullying, teen dating violence and bystander intervention. STANDING BY, STANDING UP depicts four young men challenged by bullying. This highly acclaimed educational theater piece depicts various forms of bullying, following the interwoven stories of a compelling range of characters confronted by bullying and cyberbullying.
Collins is an award-winning actor, writer and solo performer. He has performed his educational one-man shows across the country, in a wide variety of venues, including public and private high schools, colleges, military bases, universities, churches, libraries, social work agencies, and youth detention centers.

Students from Holy Family in Elmira, All Saints Academy in Corning and Saint Mary Our Mother in Horseheads gathered for Collins’ presentation of his show, “Standing By, Standing Up”, in which Collins acted out the parts of “Gabriel”, a young man who is bullied, the classmates tormenting him and a kid who sees it happen but isn’t sure what to do about it. “Standing By, Standing Up” confronts the serious consequences of bullying but also identifies hopeful outcomes and ways that students can prevent violence in their schools and lives.

This was Tim’s second trip to the area after making his debut at Holy Family School two years ago. For more information about his shows or to book Collins, go to http://timcollinsonline.com

Comments about Tim’s newest educational one-man show, THE BYSTANDER:

“We had Tim Collins back at Richland Community College to perform his new play, THE BYSTANDER. This was a part of the College’s professional development day, a day that all faculty and staff come together to discuss important issues related to higher education. THE BYSTANDER is a great show that highlights the importance that everyone (faculty, staff, and students) plays on a campus regarding the personal and social responsibility of being an effective bystander. Once again, Tim did not disappoint! Our faculty and staff were grateful for Tim’s performance, and the conversation has continued beyond the performance.”

Educators speak out about Tim’s newest educational one-man show, THE BYSTANDER:

“We recently had Tim Collins, a theatrical performer/educator, provide both a student leadership workshop and a theatrical performance as educational venues on bystander interventions/ sexual violence prevention.  This was the 2ndtime we have had him at Cobleskill.  He is a very talented performer and engages students.  He delivers a strong message about community, prosocial bystander behavior, and sexual violence prevention.”
